Optimum Fiber Network Expansion Powers Emergency and Government Services with Additional $4.4M Investment into the City of Tyler
Optimum and the City of Tyler, Texas partner in 15-year contract; Optimum invests a total of $9M into city infrastructure over the past two years
TYLER, TX (OCTOBER 15, 2025) – Optimum, the leading provider of fiber internet, mobile, and TV services, has announced a $4.4 million investment to upgrade Tyler, Texas’ emergency and government infrastructure with a robust fiber optic network, supporting our 15-year partnership with the city.
Enhanced Infrastructure for Public Safety
Construction has begun on 40 miles of strategically designed fiber routes, ensuring improved reliability and redundancy for Tyler’s police stations, fire departments, and major government buildings. The expanded network will deliver fast, dependable speeds of up to 1 gigabit with the capacity to scale for future enhancements.
Optimum’s fiber build introduces multiple redundant paths between buildings and the company’s network hub, significantly reducing the risk of outages and equipping local first responders and agencies with highly reliable connectivity.
Commitment to Tyler’s Growth
Beyond serving government and emergency services, Optimum is also broadening its fiber footprint to boost connectivity for local hospitals, and businesses, including Smith County and Tyler ISD. This fiber ring will connect directly to new data centers across Texas, offering much higher bandwidth, low latency and strong network reliability for businesses.
“Our investment underscores Optimum’s dedication to Tyler’s people and institutions,” said Amanda Seabaugh, Vice President, General Manager of Optimum Texoma. “We’re proud to deliver future-proof fiber connections that empower first responders, government entities, and businesses with exceptional reliability. This partnership reflects our ongoing promise to serve and strengthen the Tyler community for years to come.”
Project Timeline and Community Impact
Construction began last month, with completion of the fiber ring targeted for 2026. This fiber construction builds on Optimum’s previous $4.6 million network transformation investment announced in August 2024, reinforcing their commitment to Tyler’s ongoing technological advancement and connectivity.
Optimum is also committed to making a positive impact in the community through participating in programs with leading organizations such as DonorsChoose, FIRST, and Mentoring Alliance to further support the education and STEM learning of area students. Since its partnership with DonorsChoose began five years ago, the company has donated over $84,000 to local schools in the Tyler area, funding nearly 300 classroom projects in 33 schools across Tyler.
Optimum will be celebrating our commitment to Tyler by hosting a Fall Festival for the community. Join us at 1820 SSW Loop on Saturday, October 18th 11am-2pm. The event is free to attend and will feature a DJ, food trucks, bounce houses, giveaways and more.
